Westerville Central Boys Golf Wrap Up

The Westerville Central Boys golf program finished the year better than they had in any previous year.  The boys placed 6th at the district tournament at Apple Valley Golf Club (319) after placing 3rd in the sectional tournament at Clover Valley Golf Club (301).  The golf team finished with an overall record of 127 wins and 66 losses and a 2nd place finish in OCC Cardinal division.  This is a fantastic record considering the large tournaments they entered that include some of the top competition around the state.  The Varsity’s best finish was 1st place at the Worthington Christian Invitational held at Turnberry where the Warhawks defeated 14 other teams.    Senior Austin Kondratick led the way with an overall average of 38.4 on the year and was 1st team All-OCC as well as Honorable Mention All-District.  Austin will continue his career in golf and has committed to play in college at Ashland University.  Other honors on the golf team had Jack Funderburg 2nd team All-OCC, Buck Carson 3rd team All-OCC, and Zach Wengerter Honorable Mention All-OCC.  The golf team will graduate 3 seniors; Austin Kondratick, Buck Carson, and Nick Davanzo.  Although they will be difficult to replace, the Junior Varsity team has a lot of young talent returning 10 players.  They finished with an overall record of 50-41-1 competing against the best talent as well as competing in a few Varsity tournaments.
