The Boys’ Basketball team earned its first win of the season with a 61-58 victory against Groveport Madison Saturday.
The team took the lead with 35 seconds remaining in the game thanks to a three-point basket by Will Maynus, who led the team with 25 points against the Cruisers.
Central trailed Groveport Madison in the first three quarters, but outscored the Cruisers in the second and fourth quarters. The Warhawk defense held Groveport Madison to 14 points in the final three quarters, which allowed the team to open up the offense and comeback in the final minute.
Maynus and Erron James led the Warhawks with 25 and 16 points. Maynus came off a scoreless first quarter to record 11 in the second, and seven in each the third and fourth quarter. James scored 12 points in the first half, but only scored four in the second half.
Anthony Arnold was also an essential part of the Warhawks’ comeback with six points in the fourth quarter. He scored a total of 10 points against the Cruisers.
The Warhawks will be back at home for their next game on December 9, which will feature OCC-Cardinal Division opponent Dublin Scioto. Tip-off is scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
