The Lady Warhawks lost their first game of the 2014-15 season in a close game with Dublin Jerome Friday night.
After falling behind 8-4 at end of the first quarter, Central answered Dublin Jerome with a 12-point second quarter. WC guard Andrea Hodge led the charge with 10 points in the second quarter. Jerome’s Hadley Kiefer led the Celtics with nine points in the first half.
The Warhawks continued to keep the game close in the third quarter. WC post Morghan Hyatt led the Warhawks with four points during the third quarter, with Hodge and post Emma Stille each scoring a basket as well.
Intensity rose in the fourth quarter when the Warhawks took the 31-30 lead on a three-pointer by Hodge with 5:23 left in the game. Central and Jerome traded leads for several possessions before Jerome started to pull away for the 46-40 win.
Hodge led the Warhawks with 17 points and Kiefer led Dublin Jerome with 17 points.
After the loss, the Warhawks fall to 1-1 on the season and will continue the schedule on December 9 when they travel to Dublin Scioto. The Girl’s Basketball team’s next home game is December 12 when it hosts Canal Winchester at 7:30 p.m.
