Giving to the community and volunteerism are important to all Westerville Central sports teams. This season the Warhawks girls soccer team carried the torch for an issue that hit close to home for the girls in the program.
Last year, one of the players was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Through surgery and months of recovery she has able to come back and continue to play with the team.
The team raffled off a basket by selling tickets and also sold Toni Strong bracelets. The basket was raffled off on Senior Night for girls soccer, and the winner was one of Westerville Central High School’s students -junior Nick Fields.
Through the selling of raffle tickets and bracelets, the team raised over $2600. Some of the funds will go the Kuhn’s family to help with continued medical expenses and a portion will be sent to the ABTA (American Brain Tumor Association).
Congratulations to the team for their efforts.
