The Warhawk boys opened up the 2017 Cross Country season with a 1st place team finish Saturday at Whitehall’s “Dan Reid” Cross Country Invitational. Central took the boys team title with 44 points with 5 boys finishing in the top 15 runners. Reynoldsburg (57), Bexley (59), Big Walnut (114), and Eastmoor Acadmy (122) rounded out the top five schools. Warhawk senior Austin Smith was the individual champion out of a field of 169 runners with a time of 16:10. Other top finishers for Central included senior Sam Reyes (8th, 17:32), sophmore Josh South (12, 17:48), junior Jacob Owens (13th, 17:48), and senior Brant Henson (14th, 17:49). Rounding out Central’s top seven were seniors Jordan Klapper (17th, 17:57), and Nathan Schroeder (21st, 18:11). Up next for the Warhawk boys team is the Westerville North Warrior Classic next Saturday, September 2nd.
