The Warhawks softball team beat Grove City today in a regional semi-final 2-1. A pitcher’s dual for five innings all the scoring was done in the 6th.
Emily Ruck went the distance to pick up the win and surrendered a home run in the top of the 6th inning for the Greyhounds only score. Central responded with timely hitting from Emily O’Dee who singled to start the inning, moved to 2nd on Kylie Collins sacrifice bunt and then scored on Cami Compson’s triple. Compson then scored the winning run on Avrey Schumacher’s infield single. Ruck struck out the first two Grove City batters in top half of the 7th, surrendered a double and then struck out the next batter to secure the win.
The win raises the Warhawks record to 27-2. The team will advance to Saturday’s Regional Championship game that will be played at 3:00 pm at Ohio State’s Buckeye Field against Mt. Vernon.
