Several Westerville Central fall sports teams are in the midst of their post-season tournaments…here is an update…
Last night, in a district semi-final match, the boys soccer team knocked off 6th seeded Olentangy Orange on a goal by Enrique Monzlavo with 3 minutes left in the 2nd overtime. Kyle Stewart got the Warhawks on the board first with a goal just 4 minutes into the contest. The score held up until there 15 minutes remaining when the Pioneers tied the score at 1-1. The 1st overtime period was scoreless…in the 2nd overtime Monzalvo scored the winner on a corner kick to make the final score 2-1. The team advances to Saturday’s Central District Championship game at 5th seeded Olentangy Berlin. The game time is TBD.
The girls volleyball team is also at the district semi-final round of play and will host Lancaster tomorrow at 6:00 pm. The Warhawks enter the contest with a record of 19-2 and will be looking to advance to the district title game for the 2nd consecutive season. The boys and girls cross country teams both finished 3rd at last week’s District Championship Meet and advance to Saturday’s Regional Championship Meet at Pickerington North High School. Click here to see the race schedule.
The football team will play for the Division I Regional Championship at Pickerington Central Friday at 7:00 pm. The game will be televised live on Spectrum News 1.
